Following an initial pilot project on the irrigation reservoir of the Basque Country Technology Park in Vitoria, EMICA SOLAR, in a joint venture with Instalaciones Eléctricas Del Valle Aguayo, has installed a 105kW floating photovoltaic plant.

After validating the pilot project at one of the most demanding sites in terms of climate loads, the Basque Country Technology Park took the initiative to tender a floating project on the same reservoir. This new installation, which consists of 196 bifacial panels of 540Wp and tilted 25º, allows the Park to cover a percentage of the energy consumption of its facilities.

The design, based on EMICA Solar’s trimaran concept, includes several improvements over the pilot project, such as the use of 100% recycled material floaters and better access for maintenance.

The scope of the project, which included both the design of the plant and the execution of the project itself, presented a series of assembly and installation challenges that were successfully overcome, allowing the Basque Technology Park to become a bit more self-sufficient.
